Even in the best times, tree planting and maintenance rank low on the list of priorities for city and county budgets. Our focus for this year’s seminar is highlighting the importance of trees in building and maintaining livable communities.

  • Dr. Kathy Wolf from the University of Washington, will present the keynote and closing sessions: Urban Forestry Benefits in Small Towns and Cities and Messages that Stick: Sharing Information with Decision Makers.
  • Beth Buchanan from Davey Resource Group will explain the importance of tree inventories as a basic tool for Tree Boards.
  • Jim Lempke, Curator of Native Plants at The Arboretum – State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, will discuss the benefits of using native trees in the urban forest.
  • A statewide panel of tree board veterans will address your questions about making tree boards more effective.
  • Exhibitors will share success stories and highlight resources and Tree Board members, government representatives and other advocates for healthy urban forests will network.
